A Neighborhood Vision Plan translating the vision, hopes, dreams, and priorities of Midtown community members into tangible and realistic actions for the next 5 years.

THE MIDTOWN NEIGHBORHOOD is at the intersection of several neighborhoods - AsiaTown, Hough, Central, Fairfax, and Downtown. The plan seeks to grow Midtown as a neighborhood in its own right, reinforce Midtown as a great place to work, and expand Midtown as a destination for entertainment and services supporting the surrounding communities. This work aligned existing development - including the catalytic construction of a new Cleveland Foundation Headquarters and Innovation District in the area -  and concurrent area planning efforts into a cohesive whole that reflects Midtown’s core commitment to equitable and inclusive growth.

Conducted during the COVID-19 pandemic, we connected with over 500 people throughout our process both virtually and physically distanced. As a community-driven plan reflecting the multi-faceted values of the community, our process was intentional in reaching the many different voices that represent a diverse cross-section of Midtown.

The Vision Plan is presented as a deck of “Action Cards” to bring together different partners and enable new individuals, groups, and institutions to join the effort to improve Midtown.  Every card is associated with one of the 20 strategies developed through the planning process. Use the deck to identify shared interests and priorities, or outline a process for taking action. The deck of cards is also accessible online at https://midtowncleveland.org/plan/

The 5-year horizon (2025) is just the first milestone. As a planning team, we will help to identify the incremental steps that work toward the collective vision that can be achieved in the next 5-years. This makes sure that community stakeholders like you see real results.
