A design for one of Philadelphia's most important streets.

Interface Studio collaborated with a team lead by Sam Schwartz Engineering to develop conceptual design studies and a master plan for implementation of a reconfigured Spring Garden Street. With its goal to transform the 2.2 mile long east-west artery into the greenest, most ‘complete’ street in Philadelphia, the greenway will link the Schuylkill River Trail to the developing Delaware River Trail, putting Philadelphia on a national landmark trail route, the  East Coast Greenway. 

Funded by the Pennsylvania Environmental Council and the City of Philadelphia, our work resulted in a complete street design and a set of strategies that detail ways of maximizing the street as a greenway for economic development, traffic calming, and stormwater management.
