At Philadelphia’s inaugural Ignite Philly in June 2008, Interface Studio presented a few wonky ideas (and a few that could actually be taken seriously) for urban interventions in Philadelphia that could make life a little better or make spaces a little more exciting. These “urban provocations” were presented one sweltering evening before an intimidatingly hip crowd of creative types at Johnny Brenda’s in Fishtown. What’s Ignite? Well, you get the stage and the mic for 5 minutes in front of a live audience and even more viewers watching the webcast: 20 slides on automatic advance, 15 seconds each. Sounds pretty simple, right? Well, it all depends on how much you try to cram into those 15 seconds…we may have been a bit ambitious. But, it was great fun and we met a lot of really interesting people.
