Interface Studio, together with the talented, committed, and fun (!!!) Passyunk Square Civic Association, is pleased to announce that the Lower Italian Market Revitalization Plan for Philadelphia’s Italian Market corridor was recently awarded the 2009 National Planning Excellence Award for a Grassroots Initiative by the American Planning Association (APA). The “APA’s National Planning Awards program is considered by U.S. planners to be the profession’s highest honor,” and we are thrilled to receive such recognition!

Here’s hoping that the corridor – the two blocks of South 9th Street between Washington Avenue and the infamous cheesesteak dueling grounds – will, in turn, receive the attention it deserves, the TLC it requires, and the funding and support necessary to implement the plan.

The plan is available for download here: Lower Italian Market Revitalization Plan, and more information about the project is available here.

    Happy reading!
