We are excited to announce the release of a neighborhood plan for the Hunting Park - East Tioga community of Philadelphia, completed by Interface Studio and Lamar Wilson Associates for North10 Philadelphia with a grant from the H. Chase Lenfest Foundation.
Working with the HP-ET community over the past year has been energizing and inspiring. The title of this plan - "All In Together" - describes a community that confronts its challenges with coordination and collaboration. It's what we saw day-to-day in HP-ET, and it's what the community needs in order to make progress on it's common goals.
It's easy to see how deeply residents care about this community. It's visible walking down North 10th Street or Russell Street or countles others, where decorations, landscaping, creative paint jobs adorn comfortable single family homes; and it's embodied in neighbors' efforts to improve public spaces or secure benefits from new development. But the community also comes up against steep barriers: Philadelphia's epidemic of gun violence is ever present for the families that live here, trash and dumping are common, and residents worry about new development pressures that could raise costs.
This plan is a roadmap for the community to confront its challenges and accomplish it's common goals. It is rooted in the words and hard work of local residents, business owners, and community leaders. We are grateful that the community trusted us to help, and we look forward to the seeing the progress they can continue to make - all in, together.
